The artist’s process in technology

First, let’s define technology, and where that is exhibited—tech companies—and remember that definitions are like rules: they’re valid until they’re not, but you should follow them for the time being.

Second, process. Process is a byproduct of any mode of creation. It is not creative. In fact, creativity is unleashed when process is broken or sidestepped. But that does not mean process is not valuable. Process is necessary to creation.

Third, the artist is challenged again and again to create something new, and with this, the artist’s process is vastly superior to anything found in technology, because technology processes are about efficiency and repeatability, and the artist is reinventing and perfecting process until it is ready to be broken.
